Senior Software Engineer - Internal Applications and Automation (f/m/d)

• Start date: As soon as possible

• Yearly Salary: €70,000 - €75,000 (fixed range, annual gross)

• Equity: €20,000 - €40,000 in company shares

• Benefits: Up to €5,000 annually

• Work model: Full-time, hybrid (based in Munich)

Your Role

Your mission is to act as an internal force multiplier, improving the experience, efficiency, and effectiveness of teams across the company. You will immerse yourself in their workflows, identify key operational challenges, and build the custom applications and tools needed to solve them. Your initial focus will be on transforming our Ground Truth Collection process into a robust, cross-product data collection solution, but your long-term impact will come from proactively solving problems for various teams, including those less technical. 

Your day-to-day

Your work will focus on understanding internal challenges and building the tools and apps to solve them. On a typical day you will: 

• Drive Solutions from Concept to Reality: Take the lead on key internal projects by working closely with teams to understand their needs, designing effective solutions, and iterating based on user feedback.

• Architect and Build with Impact: Design and develop modular, extensible solutions, from quick prototypes to web and mobile applications that integrate with our core platforms at Orbem (Data, ML).

• Collaborate to Solve Problems: Partner with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Domain Experts, Data Scientists, and ML Engineers, to translate their needs into intuitive and effective tools.

• Champion Technical Excellence: Drive high standards for our internal applications and provide technical mentorship to other engineers on best practices for building scalable and maintainable systems.

Experience and skills

• Product-Driven & User-Centric: You are passionate about diving deep into specific domains to understand internal user challenges, whether for data collection in a lab or managing MRI scanning sessions. You excel at communicating with non-technical people, translating their problems into effective, user-centric tools.

• Pragmatic & Efficient Builder: You possess a strong "build vs. buy" mindset, focused on shipping solutions with a good total cost of ownership. You effectively leverage existing tools and cloud services to solve problems efficiently, without reinventing the wheel.

• Versatile Technical Expertise: You have a broad skill set and a wide knowledge of modern tools and cloud solutions. Your experience includes:

  • Web development, building user-centric applications with frameworks like Django, React, Angular, Vue, or No-Code solutions.

  • Backend development, creating simple APIs and services using Python, Go, or Node.js.

  • (Bonus) Mobile app development using frameworks like Flutter, React Native, or No-Code solutions.

• Strong Architectural Vision: You design modular and scalable solutions, ensuring that what you build today is robust and can be easily extended to support new use cases and features long-term.

• Collaborative Ownership: You take full ownership of your projects, driving them from initial concept through to delivery. You excel at aligning with key stakeholders and clearly articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
